The Manchester City striker has splashed out on a prized pair of chow chow puppies.
He got the dogs from Salford pet shop Dogs 4 Us ? the same one used by Wayne and Coleen Rooney.
A source said: "Mario is a big animal lover and will let the mutts have free rein of his house. He has a real connection with animals."
Mario, who had thousands of pounds worth of damage done to his bathroom when fireworks were set off in October, already has a black labrador called Lucky.
But the Italian spent some time away from his new pets on Sunday afternoon.
He enjoyed a late lunch with girlfriend Raffaella Fico at a restaurant in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, parking his white Maserati GT in a bus stop for the whole meal.
