The former Who frontman has been given bandmate Pete Townshend's blessing to perform the band's seminal rock opera Tommy for the 2012 music festival in Byron Bay without him.
According to The Daily Telegraph, other performers recently announced for next year's Bluesfest include Earth Wind and Fire, The Pogues, John Butler Trio, Yes and My Morning Jacket.
Guitar virtuosos Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Steve Lukather will also take to the Bluesfest stage, together with Buddy Guy, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Bettye Lavette, Brian Setzer, Jonny Lang and Maceo Parker.
When Daltrey first revealed plans to tour with Tommy, Townshend said: "[It's] great to see Roger performing Tommy with his band. I will be there in spirit, and Roger has my complete and most loving support.
"Roger is touring his unique concert version of Tommy using his faithful presentation of the original work as the backbone for a set of wider material... it is wonderful to hear the way Roger and his new band reinterpret the old Who songs.''
