Theron said: "My mum said the most beautiful thing. She said, 'You know, it took me nine months to fall in love with you while you were growing in my stomach, and it took you two years to fall in love with this little baby'.

"People keep saying, 'You're a single mum.' I go, 'Actually, I'm not. I got two boys helping me out.'"

BAZ BAMIGBOYE: Nicole Kidman dances back on stage after 14 years

Nicole Kidman is in the early days of talks about returning to the stage, in a Terence Rattigan play about a man who leaves his wife for a younger woman.

If talks progress and a deal can be concluded, Nicole would star in After The Dance as Rattigan’s tragic character Joan Scott-Fowler in a production on Broadway in either the spring or autumn of next year.

An award-winning production of the play ran at the National Theatre in 2010 with Nancy Carroll, who gave a spectacular performance as Joan, and Benedict Cumberbatch as her novelist husband David.
Hitting the stage: Could Nicole Kidman soon be treading the boards again?
After The Dance charts how the Scott-Fowlers married for the hell of it during the rollicking Twenties. Their passions were ruled by their hedonistic lifestyle, not love.

But years later, love does enter the picture and the play becomes a heartbreaking exploration of repressed emotion.

A young, and rather irritating woman decides to take David away from Joan, and Joan is unable to tell her husband how deeply she cares for him.

The NT production, directed by Thea Sharrock, won much acclaim and took four Olivier awards, including best revival and best actress for the luminous Ms Carroll.

Nicole Kidman at the 2012 Australian Academy of Cinema And Television Arts Awards in Los Angeles in January
There has been much discussion about taking it to New York, but Broadway producers don’t want to take a chance on Nancy — which is a scandal.

Although she is one of our best actresses, she is unknown across the pond and producers are scared of mounting plays without the safety net of a big name.

Nicole has been keen to find another theatrical project since Sweet Bird Of Youth, in which she was to play Alexandra Del Lago (aka Princess Kosmonopolis) opposite James Franco, was postponed.

It would be the first time she has been on stage since making her stunning debut, at the Donmar and on Broadway in David Hare’s The Blue Room, directed by Sam Mendes, back in 1998.

Nicole will continue to talk to Ms Sharrock and others involved in the play and firm decisions are expected to be made in the coming months.

First, though, she will join Colin Firth and Jeremy Irvine on the film The Railway Man, as this column exclusively revealed last week.

Nicole and Colin are expected to be at the Cannes Film Festival in May to talk to distributors about The Railway Man and other projects.
Danielle attended the recent opening night of the musical 'Singin' in the Rain'
Danielle Hope sang On My Own from the musical Les Miserables on a TV talent show, little daring to hope that she would end up singing it for real in the West End.

The young singer, who won Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Over The Rainbow series to find a Dorothy for The Wizard Of Oz, will play Eponine in Les Miserables from June 18 at the Queen’s Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue — which means she’ll be able to sing On My Own eight times a week for the next year.

The cast change will also bring in Geronimo Rauch to play Jean Valjean, with Tam Mutu as his nemesis Inspector Javert.

Danielle, 19, wasn’t even born when Les Miserables was staged by Trevor Nunn and John Caird under Cameron Mackintosh’s eagle-eye at the Barbican 26 years ago.

‘Les Miserables is like a training ground,’ Danielle told me. ‘If you want to be in musical theatre, then you have to do Les Miserables. It’s a great way to train.’

The young star said she was particularly taken by Eponine’s tale of unrequited love, which is what makes On My Own so moving.

She said she learnt a lot working opposite Michael Crawford in The Wizard Of Oz at the London Palladium. Sadly, the Palladium box office has plummeted to red-for-danger levels since she and Crawford left the show last month.

Danielle starts rehearsals on May 14 and is looking forward to being in  Les Miz during the Olympic season  in London.

Cameron Mackintosh said she is the third actress he’d chosen to play Eponine to have come out of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s TV star-search programmes. The others are Nancy Sullivan and Samantha Barks, who were in the Oliver! show I’d Do Anything.

Ms Barks is playing Eponine in the film of Les Miserables, which started shooting on locations in southern France yesterday.

Claude-Michel Schonberg, Alain Boublil and Herbert Kretzmer have  written a new song for the movie called Suddenly.
The Sundance London Film festival runs at the O2 from April 26 to 29, and of the 14 movies to be screened, I’ve particularly enjoyed Liberal Arts, with Josh Radnor as a professor who returns to his old college and can’t  resist becoming friends with the fabulous Elizabeth Olsen.

Lara Pulver: Sherlocks woman is getting dressed up for Anton Chekhovs Uncle Vanya

Eye-catching Lara Pulver is preparing to play the flirtatious Yelena in  Anton Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya.
Ms Pulver will star with Roger Allam (in the title role), Dervla Kirwan and Timothy West in a version translated by Michael Frayn that Jeremy Herrin is rehearsing now for Chichester’s Minerva Theatre.

Lara has done a lot of theatre, but mainly musical roles, and this will be her first part in a major classic.
Lara Pulver was last seen on our TV screens as the naked temptress Irene Adler in BBC One's Sherlock
She was terrific in the musical Parade, directed by Rob Ashford at the Donmar and in Los Angeles. She has a lot of fans in Hollywood and there may be a big role for her later in the year.

Here at home, the actress garnered a great deal of attention when she appeared as Irene Adler in TV’s Sherlock.

My colleagues professed outrage that she appeared without the benefit of her clothing before the watershed hour of 9pm. But they still ran photographs of her in the buff, and I am too - just to remind you who Lara is (although she has appeared on my pages fully clothed several times).

Uncle Vanya will be part of the Chichester Festival Theatre’s 50th anniversary season and will begin performances from March 30.
Dressed in an electric blue suit and blue Chelsea boots, Josh Young ignites the stage with an electrifying version of the title song in Jesus Christ Superstar.

The Tim Rice-Andrew Lloyd Webber musical has finally reached the Neil Simon Theatre in New York, by way of the Stratford Festival Theatre in Ontario and La Jolla in San Diego.

Director Des McAnuff has continued to work with his cast and the show seemed deeper and somehow bigger than when I saw it in Ontario seven months ago.

Perhaps the Arab Spring, along with the crisis in Syria and the Iran nuclear conflict, has brought it into sharper focus.

McAnuff acknowledged that the show has ‘become reflective of the world we live in, in the most immediate way’.

But that’s as much to do with the production as it is with world events.

Both Rice and Lloyd Webber saw the show in Canada, and Rice caught it again when he was in New York this week.

But as far as the score and lyrics were concerned, McAnuff said he pictured himself working with the pair’s younger selves.

‘In a sense, I’ve been working with Tim and Andrew at the beginning of their careers,’ he told me. ‘My lyricist and composer are in their early 20s, and that’s been a blast.

‘It’s easy to forget that they [Lloyd Webber and Rice] were very much into rock ’n’ roll,’ said McAnuff when we spoke in  New York.

The singing in the new version is the best I’ve heard. And the three main leads - Paul Nolan as Jesus, Chilina Kennedy as Mary, and Young as Judas - are tremendous.

It’s no secret that Lloyd Webber would like McAnuff’s production to come to the Palace Theatre, where the original London show enjoyed a long run.

The acclaimed Singin’ In The Rain will be at the Palace for a while, and others have their eye on the venue, too. But as someone pointed out to me: ‘If Andrew wants Jesus Christ Superstar to go to the Palace sometime next year, then that’s what will happen.’
He’s about to start rehearsing Bola Agbaje’s new play Belong for the Royal Court’s Jerwood Theatre Upstairs, but at night he’ll still be doing The Comedy Of Errors, opposite Lenny Henry at the National Theatre.

Msamati will also play bad-ass pirate Salladhor Saan in the second series of Game Of Thrones, on Sky Atlantic on April 2. ‘Salladhor’s a very, very bad man,’ Lucian warned.

And then he will appear as the Bishop of Carlisle in Rupert Goold’s TV film of Richard II for the BBC and Neal Street Productions.

Msamati said he is closest  to Agbaje’s play, because it’s a co-production between  the Royal Court and the Tiata Fahodzi Theatre Company, of which he’s also  artistic director.

Belong was one of two plays bequeathed him by the previous artstic chief.

It’s about Kayode, a Nigerian-born British MP who loses a controversial election. ‘Suddenly, he has part of his identity thrown in his face, and he decides he should “go back home” to Nigeria - where he hasn’t been for more than 20 years,’ Lucian told me.

Kayode becomes involved  in politics there, but knows he’s referred to as the ‘Englishman’. Lucian said: ‘It’s a central question for a lot of us.’

Or as my son once pointed out, it’s about where you get your hair cut.

Lucian, who was last at the Royal Court in Clybourne Park, will appear in Belong from April 26 — with Indhu Rubasingham (the Tricycle Theatre’s artistic director-in-waiting) directing.

Jack Lowden will portray Olympic legend Eric Liddell in a stage version of Oscar-winning film Chariots Of Fire, adapted by Mike Bartlett. Edward Hall will direct the play at the Hampstead Theatre from May 9. The Vangelis score from the film will be used, with additional arrangements by Jason Carr. If it’s any good, it will sprint into the West End.
She will play at Koko in Camden Town on May??28. Her new album, Radio Music Society, is out on April 2.

After speaking to her on the Oscar red carpet, I tracked down some of her music and she has the coolest jazz-soul-Afro beat.

Sam Mendes, who has put back his stage musical production of Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory till the autumn of next year. It was hoped it would begin preview performances at the London Palladium next spring.

It’s likely that South Pacific, with Samantha Womack, will run at the Palladium from this autumn. Top tickets were ?85 when the show was at the Barbican, but I think that’s a lot to ask of Palladium audiences.

Meanwhile, as I mention elsewhere on this page, the Palladium’s current show - The Wizard Of Oz - is turning into the Wizard Of Doo-Doo. It really is having a helluva time attracting ticket buyers.

Maureen Lipman, who is directing Neil Simon’s Barefoot In The Park at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guilford from March 28. Maureen will also be in the show, playing the role Mildred Natwick created on stage and in the movie (both times alongside Robert Redford).

Stephen Sondheim, who will be at the Adelphi Theatre tomorrow for the first preview of his musical Sweeney Todd. He’s a huge fan — as am I — of this production, which originated at Chichester last autumn, directed by Jonathan Kent and featuring sublime performances from Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton.

Coleen Rooney's an itsy-bitsy bit brilliant, writes Polly Hudson

In the spirit of full disclosure, I should start by saying I’ve had issues with Coleen Rooney before.

For obvious reasons that I won’t go into for the zillionth time, I thought she had done women everywhere a gross disservice. This week, to my shock and awe, she did the complete opposite.

And if I’m going to slate her for the former, it’s only fair to give her a nod for the latter, right?

Coleen’s been shooting an advert campaign for Littlewoods in Florida (this is not what I am shocked or in awe about), and the photos that have emerged so far are properly refreshing.

Because even though it’s usually adorned with an outfit that cost more than the national debt of Greece, underneath, Coleen’s body is, well, normal.

She’s a celebrity, but she isn’t unattainably perfect. She’s real. She also looked relaxed, and totally comfortable in her skin as she posed for the camera.

Maybe it’s because I haven’t been able to get the news that there are currently three-year-olds with eating disorders in this country out of my head, but I think that’s an important thing for today’s highly pressured young girls to see.

It should also be noted that during a break in the shoot, Coleen enjoyed an ice-cream. As in, really, actually ate it in real life – as opposed to just insisting she does, all the time, in interviews. Bravo!

All in all, this is an exciting, unexpected step forward in a battle I’d assumed was long lost. Now I’m keen for the excellent example Coleen has set not to go to waste.

Littlewoods, it’s now over to you.

Coleen looks great in the photos, she’s obviously completely happy with her body, so you don’t need to airbrush them beyond all recognition, OK? We have seen the truth, and we like it, so there’s no need to lie.

Coleen’s body, as it really, truly is, will sell swimwear, honest. In fact, I bet it will sell even more, because this way we won’t have an impossible image of how the bikini should look just before we are forced to endure the horror of ourselves in it under a fluorescent light. (Changing room self-harming figures will probably fall dramatically, too.)

Why not make this the first time in recent memory where the girl in the photo looks exactly the same as the girl the photo is of? Go on, Littlewoods – I dare you.

David Beckham says Victoria decided he would stay in California and sign for LA Galaxy for another two years

David spoke at a conference that was beamed across the world today

David Beckham has revealed that it was Victoria’s decision for the family to stay in America for another two years, telling the footballer to sign for LA Galaxy so they could bring Harper up overseas.

Speaking at a Google press conference that is being streamed around the world as we speak, David said that his wife had the final say on where he should sign for another season.

He said: “Victoria and the kids have the final answer on where we live. When you’re married with children your priorities totally change.

“With the new contract, it was a decision I didn’t take lightly and at 36 years old you don’t expect these offers as a footballer, but America is where I thought the future was going for the game and where my family is happiest.

“We love living in LA, we’ve adapted to the American lifestyle and we’ve enjoyed our time here and will continue to enjoy it.

“I came to America to grow the game here and I feel I’ve helped do that. The game is growing and to see when I arrived there were 12 teams and now there are 19 – with stadiums being built solely for soccer – that’s the exciting part and one of the reasons I wanted to stay.”

David answered questions about his decision to stay in LA

The dad of four was relaxed and spoke well about a number of topics

And although David has decided to stay in Hollywood, he doesn’t think he’ll be crossing over into film just yet.

He joked: “I’d love to star in a film with Tom Cruise. We live five minutes away and there’s banter… but nothing I could say live on Google!

“But I can’t act, simple as that. I’ve done adverts and different soccer movies but not major parts – not much talking!

“But who knows, something might happen in the future… but it’s not an ambition of mine.”

And speaking about what it’s like getting used to the American accent and words Californians use, the father of four recalled one incident that still makes him laugh.

He said: “When he was drawing at our house one day, Brooklyn looked up and said ‘Daddy I need some rubbers’.

“I looked over at my friends from the US and they were in shock!

“I didn’t understand it at the time but I get it now.

“He calls them erasers now anyway.”

David Beckham says Victoria had to sit next to the toilet at Royal Wedding

David Beckham is getting Victoria back for the comments she made about him wearing her underwear on live television, telling the world about her toilet habits during the Royal Wedding today.

Speaking about their invite to the biggest ceremony of the year during a Google webchat this evening, David said that his wife was panicking about whether she’d be able to get to the loo while Prince William and Kate Middleton were getting hitched.

He said: “My wife was eight months pregnant and she was worried where we were going to be sitting.

“She needed to be as close to the restroom as possible in case she needed to go.

“But when we got there, we had perfect seats, she was able to see William and Kate while being five paces away from the restroom.”

VB was heavily pregnant with Harper at the time

The father of four said that he was dead chuffed to be invited to the Royal Wedding, after being a brought up to love the monarchy.

Gushing about bessies Prince William and Harry, David said: “We had to pinch ourselves when we got the invite [to the Royal Wedding]."

David was speaking during a webchat this evening

He continued: “I’ve become friends with Prince William and Harry as well. We was brought up to love the Royal Family and when Princess Di was around, the love for her was incredible.

“And then you watch the lives of William and Harry and it’s kind of like the Truman Show seeing them grow into young men. It makes you proud to be English, watching them grow into the people they are.

“The Royal Wedding was a huge thing for our country to have a celebration like that, it gave our country a huge lift at the time.”

Frankie Cocozza could be the winner of Celebrity Big Brother 2012, after closing in on favourite Gareth Thomas

Well, we didn't see this one coming

Frankie Cocozza may have been kicked off The X Factor for being a little prat, but it looks like Celebrity Big Brother viewers are lapping up his wild behaviour, with the Brighton boy set to become the new favourite to win.

The 19 year old is cruising towards the Celebrity Big Brother final, with his antics in the house over the last few days winning the audience over.

By managing to strike a balance between being straight talking and quite sweet, Frankie has crept into the position of second favourite to win, behind Welsh rugby star Gareth Thomas.

Gareth is the only CBB housemate who isn't up for eviction this week

A spokesperson for William Hill said: “Gareth Thomas has been the favourite for a few days now but Frankie Cocozza has been the only person the people have been wanting to back in the last 24 hours.”

And with all of the housemates up for eviction apart from Gareth – who is pretty much the nicest person in the world – it looks like Nicola McLean will be getting the boot on Friday night.

Nicola annoyed viewers after pretending to kiss Frankie in the hot tub

The blonde glamour model is favourite to get the boot after being dubbed ‘fake’, with short tempered TOWIE boy Kirk Norcross and the sneaky Playboy twins also at risk of eviction.

There’s no way the brilliant Natalie Cassidy or admittedly quite funny Frankie will be leaving anytime soon though, with odds of 33/1 and 40/1 to go.

Halle Berry 'stalker' pleads no contest to charges

A man accused of scaling the fence of Halle Berry's house will remain in jail after pleading no contest to stalking the Oscar-winning actress.

Los Angeles deputy district attorney Wendy Segall said Richard Franco, 28, was sentenced to serve 386 days in county jail, but he has already served half that term.

Franco was also placed on five years' probation, a year of psychological counselling and ordered to stay away from the actress for the next decade.

He was arrested outside Berry's home in July after repeatedly coming on to her property. In one instance, the actress stated in a sworn declaration that Franco attempted to enter her kitchen, but she was able to lock the door before he got inside.

A burglary charge filed against Franco was dropped.

Hustle - BBC1, 9pm

You won’t see a lot of Mickey Bricks in tonight’s caper.

He’s been tied up in the boot of a car by a Romanian gangster, and while the rest of his crew run around trying to save him, that leaves Adrian Lester free to direct his first episode.

With all the camera gimmicks that are Hustle’s calling card, it’s not the kind of series many rookie directors would get to cut their teeth on.

But, just as with his long-cons, he’s got a solid team in place to back him up.

In other hands, this script could easily have been spun out into a full-length feature film.

Here the first act is dispensed with in just a couple of minutes by a quick, but memorable explanation from Ash.

The object the grifters must find to get Mickey back is a stolen Picasso.

And considering that a Picasso and a Mondrian (also referred to in this episode) really were nicked from the National Gallery in Athens less than a fortnight ago, perhaps Greek police should be watching tonight’s goings-on with special interest.

They’ll discover a lot of fun to be had with guest stars including Bill Bailey and Martin Kemp, who seem to be enjoying themselves hugely.

But the acting honours must go to Sheila Hancock. She’s wonderful here as a dotty art forger called Dolly who takes a shine to the decorative young Sean (Matt Di Angelo).

The hustlers are certain that as a Picasso expert, she must know who has stolen the missing painting. “What’s the word on the street?” they demand.

“Do I look like Huggy Bear?” she quickly shoots back.

J Edgar (15) - review

In 1964, Andy Warhol made a film called Empire that consisted of nothing more than a dusk-til-dawn shot of the Empire State Building. With a running time of just over eight hours, it’s widely considered the most boring movie ever made. Competition arrives, however, in the shape of this deathly-dull biopic of J Edgar Hoover.

Given that the man is among the most controversial figures of recent US history, making a film this tedious really takes some doing. Heck, even those with only a passing knowledge of Hoover’s life and times will come away little the wiser.

Leonardo DiCaprio (plus a whole lot of latex) plays the FBI chief in his seventies as he dictates his memoirs, prompting a series of flashbacks to key moments in his life, starting with his attempts to capture Communist radicals who were bombing DC in 1919. When his dedication is noted by his superiors at the Justice Department, young Hoover is promoted to the bureau where he establishes the county’s first national fingerprint database and recruits the brightest talents to help nail gangsters such as John Dillinger.

But, inevitably corrupted by power, he starts spying and building files on the great and the good – in fact, anyone who represents a threat to his power base.

A repressed and chaste homosexual, Hoover’s only confidantes are his ever-loyal secretary (Naomi Watts), his number two (Armie Hammer) and his beloved but icy mother (Judi Dench) who tells him she’d rather have a dead son than one who was gay.

Not helping matters are some confusing flashbacks within flashbacks, plus a twist ending that, after Shutter Island, feels both gimmicky and old hat.

It’s a shame DiCaprio’s committed performance and some attempts to get under Hoover’s skin are overwhelmed by an absolute lullaby of a script that’s unfocused and has nothing new to say. One for historians – and insomniacs.

Kathleen Edwards on new love, new album

She was predestined to the travelling musician’s life having been born to a diplomat father and a music teacher mother. It’s also appropriate then that Canadian Kathleen Edwards has entitled her superb fourth album Voyageur.

“I called it that as a summation of the life I fell into,” she says. “Basically, my early years were spent in training for becoming a touring musician.”

The album bears the fruits of Kathleen’s creative relationship with her new partner, Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon. Divorce after five years of marriage to her former producer Colin Cripps provided a lot of the inspiration.

“It’s been a liberating but really painful time for me,” reflects the 33-year-old. “Trying to figure out who you are and what makes you happy is all part of the journey of life. The idea that it will ever be smooth sailing will probably never happen.”

Hooking up with Bon Iver has allowed Kathleen to connect with a whole new audience and, of course, find new romance.

“Justin was able to articulate my ideas,” Kathleen smiles. “And touring has been a fun time, particularly in the UK where there was lots of young kids. Bon Iver’s music makes me feel optimistic about the future.”

Katie Price announces she’s off to America and hints at scandal during model press call - video

There wasn’t much point trying to make a press conference involving Katie Price in some skimpy clothes, not about Katie Price, but she gave it a good shot.

After appearing on This Morning with 19 year old beauty Amy, who she picked as the winner of her Signed By Katie Price model talent show, the pair head off to a press conference in Parsons Green, London.

They posed it up big time while both wearing identical spandex, rubber… whatever catsuits with cut away sheer panels to expose a suitably substantial amount of cleavage and matching sky-high red platform shoes.

Amy certainly seems to have learnt plenty of Jordan’s moves and pouts – the latter at one point whispered in her ear, giving her tips… or perhaps telling her she shouldn’t have eaten garlic before… probably not.

But Katie, with a wry smirk on her face, was keen to emphasise “it’s all about Amy” to the gawping paparazzi and journos and even shimmed out of the shoot at one point.

Checking out their pictures, while we check out their butts

But of course, we all love to know what oddities the orange one is up to now and in between answering questions about Amy, she revealed she’s outta here.

“It looks like I’m going to America. It’s all about America,” she said when asked if there would be yet another series of her reality show.

When asked if that was the secret she’d been hinting at on Twitter recently, she denied it was, saying only: “It’s really good news I’ve been waiting three years for. It’s all about Amy today.”

However, our mole on the ground (she's blind as a bat, but has great hearing) heard her say this as she left the press call: “We love a scandal… There’ll be one soon!”

Is it Pete? Is it something to do with her old management Can Associates? Is she marrying her brother? Tell us now, pleeeeeease Katie.

Katie Price dismisses Leo Penna and Michael Parnes rumours, before revealing her three-date plan on Valentine’s Day - video interview

Katie Price is getting bored of talking about men, if her reaction to our question about Leandro Penna this afternoon was anything to go by.

We chatted to the glamour model at the official signing of Amy Willerton, who won Signed By Katie Price (a show about getting signed by Kate’s management company, as the name more than implies).

And when we asked Katie whether it was nice to see Leandro Penna earlier this month (the pair were snapped getting off in a taxi after a night out), she replied: “Leo? What’s Leo got to do with today?”

We pointed out that we could see his name tattooed on our flesh right in front of us, but Katie joked: “I thought it was Mike I was seeing – I cant keep up with what you lot say.”

Kate was referring to the rumours about married millionaire Michael Parnes, who she hung out with while holiday in Miami last week. However, she has since insisted that the pair are nothing more than mates and she is very much single.

Watch Katie chatting about Leo, Mike and Valentine's Day above...

So single, in fact, that Kate told us she is planning to have three dates on Valentine’s Day. When asked about her plans for romance on February 14th, she joked: “Yeah I’ve got lots of plans for Valentine’s, with lots of different men.

“I’m really lucky, I’ve got one at five o’clock, seven o clock and ten o’clock.

“I’ll probably be sore by 12 o’clock.”

She will if her new protégé Amy has got anything to do with it, who piped up: “I’m sleeping with her, we’ll probably have the night in together nice bottle of wine.”

To which Kate replied: “Nah you need to give me a break, I can’t keep up with you Amy.”

What a pair of troublemakers.

Katie Price mocks Alex Reid for ‘turning into a woman’ and jokes about his sexual preferences

Katie Price had a good laugh at Alex Reid’s expense today, mocking the father-to-be for turning ‘into a woman’ while they were married.

Speaking at a press event which saw the mum of three officially signing protégé Amy Willerton to her management label, Katie cracked jokes about Alex before suggesting that he made her wear a ‘strap on’ in the bedroom.

When we asked Amy whether she had her eye on any celebrity men, Katie cut in and made a comment that was clearly about estranged husband Alex. She said: “Yeah, she likes men that are men who turn into women.

“Because I’ve been there done that, she wants to copy and get a taste of both sides.”

Watch Katie cracking jokes in the video above...

Katie then took the joke a tad further and laughed: “I’m going to show her how to put that strap on on. Getting her mature, you know, getting on with it.”

Naturally, at this point Kate’s publicist started getting a bit flustered, telling the glamour model to pipe down, which simply makes her laugh.

She shouts: “I’m joking, just banter!”

But it doesn’t sound like Katie will be in the UK bickering with her exes for much longer, announcing that she’s planning on moving to the US soon.

When questioned about doing another reality show, Kate said: “It looks like I’m going to America. It’s all about America.”

And when asked if that was the secret she’d been hinting at on Twitter recently, she denied it was, saying only: “It’s really good news I’ve been waiting three years for. It’s all about Amy today.”

Amy is Jordan's newest signing and will be represented by Black Sheep Management

However, as we were on our way out of the press call, we heard Katie giggle: “We love a scandal… There’ll be one soon!”

It may sound a tad sad, but we actually can’t wait to find out what she’s banging on about.

Keith Lemon to host Jim'll Fix It-style show for ITV1

ITV1 is making its own modern version of Jim’ll Fix It – with comic Keith Lemon making dreams come true.

The Celebrity Juice star will host Lemonaid on Saturday nights and producers hope to emulate the late Sir Jimmy Savile’s BBC1 success.

The new primetime show will run for six episodes from the spring. And bosses hope it could become a regular fixture in the schedules.

Dan Baldwin, head of makers Talkback comedy, said today: “We want to reflect the great ‘wish fulfilment’ shows from yesteryear but add a
very special twist of Lemon.

"Keith Lemon is about to demolish people's problems and make their dreams come true - and we should all be immensely happy about this."

Zany Yorkshireman Lemon, 38, aka Leigh Francis, shot to fame with catchphrases such as “Bang Tidy” on Channel 4’s Bo’ Selecta! before hosting ITV2’s comedy panel show Celebrity Juice. On Lemonaid he will be helped each week by a different celebrity.

He said: “I’m very excited to be in t’living rooms of the lovely ITV1 viewers with me new telly show. Solving people’s problems and making dreams come true, making me look nice like Cheryl Cole, like when she went out to t’troops.

"She’s lovely in’t she? Not as fit as Kelly Brook though! If anyone has ever dreamed of meeting her, let me know – I can hook you up, I know her in real life.”

ITV entertainment commissioner Claire Zolkwer added: “We’re absolutely thrilled. He’s been entertaining the ITV2 audience on Celebrity Juice for six series and his unique brand of naughty but nice is going to bring some colour and fun to family Saturday evenings on ITV1.”

Jim’ll Fix It ran from 1975 to 1994 and BBC bosses, who brought it back for a Boxing Day special with Shane Richie, are considering commissioning a new series.

Leonardo DiCaprio tried to put on weight for J Edgar role so he wouldn't need a fat suit

Relaxing at the terrace bar on the patio of a Beverly Hills Hotel, Leonardo DiCaprio is his usual cheery, good-looking self.

This is partly because he no longer has to spend four hours every morning being made up to resemble the portly FBI director J Edgar Hoover whom he portrays in his latest movie, J. Edgar.

He wore a full bald cap with punched-in hair, false teeth, contact lenses, a “fat suit” and silicone prosthetics glued onto his forehead, cheeks, mouth, neck and hands.

“It was very claustrophobic and I wanted to put on extra weight so I didn’t have to wear a big suit,” says the 37-year-old. “I tried my best, but there weren’t enough cupcakes around to do it!”

One of Hollywood’s biggest superstars, since Titanic, DiCaprio has made a career out of risky choices, playing mainly unsympathetic characters in serious movies geared towards adult audiences. None of his recent films has been a blockbuster, and not all of them have even been successful.

As J. Edgar director Clint Eastwood notes, “Leonardo could make a lot of money making mechanical genre pictures, but he wants to be challenged.”

His latest challenge is probably the biggest he has yet undertaken – portraying the founder of the FBI from his 20s until his death in 1972 at the age of 77, in a remarkable performance which has earned him a Golden Globe nomination.

Hoover is the latest in a line of mostly tortured, unlikable characters DiCaprio has portrayed. These have included Howard Hughes in The Aviator, a Zimbabwean diamond smuggler in Blood Diamond, an unfaithful husband in Revolutionary Road, a psychotic detective in Shutter Island and a dream extractor in Inception.

DiCaprio is currently filming The Great Gatsby for director Baz Luhrmann and is preparing to portray Frank Sinatra in what would be his fourth collaboration with Martin Scorsese.

“I don’t do a film because I feel it’s time to do a comedy or a science-fiction film or another genre,” Leo says. “I do it because I’m motivated, it interests me and I feel like I could be of service to the character. And I like complicated characters.

“Just like the Great Gatsby, J. Edgar led to a million questions I wanted answered and it got me excited to research him.”

Apart from reading everything he could find about Hoover, his research included watching news film, visiting one of his old homes, touring the Justice Department in Washington and talking to one of the few people still alive who worked closely with him.

J. Edgar treads carefully around some of the more salacious rumours about Hoover’s personal life and portrays him as a crusader who modernised crime fighting with fingerprints and scientific analysis, while at the same time snooping into the private lives of suspected Communists and some of America’s most powerful figures.

DiCaprio also dismisses the long-standing stories about Hoover being a cross-dressing homosexual who flaunted his transvestitism.

“People still think J Edgar Hoover dressed up as a woman,” he says. “But that’s completely ridiculous. There’s no way in a million years he would have shown up at a party dressed in a frock with lipstick on, gallivanting around as some people think.

“That story came from a woman whose husband had been thrown in the slammer by the FBI and she wanted to get back at Hoover. He knew about those rumours and they haunted him through his entire career.”

Like Hoover, DiCaprio has managed to retain a mystique about his personal life, politely declining to talk about his off-screen activities. When asked by male interviewers about his penchant for dating beautiful models he replies with the stock answer, “Wouldn’t you if you could?”

And he’s rightly proud of his acting achievements. “I’d regret it,” he muses, “if I looked back and said, ‘You were a little lazy. You didn’t seize the gifts that were being offered to you and you didn’t take advantage of how incredibly lucky you were’. But I’m not doing that.”

Oooh! Look at Little Mix looking all glossy

 Oh good, we'd missed them

There are some really nice perks to winning the X Factor, getting a number one single and then getting massively famous very quickly - just ask One Direction. Oh you can't, they're off in LA (probably) zooming around in their really swanky cars while Simon Cowell transfers another load of cash to their bank accounts.

Little Mix were out at the London Hilton Hotel last night looking their usual smiley selves, but with a certain jush (jeush? Oh we don't know if there's an actual spelling for this word, we're sorry) that comes from having stylists ready to jush (??) you up at any second.

Jesy's hair - always gorge, to be honest - was definitely glossier and more... oh god, we want to say it again, and Leigh-Anne looked like she was rocking a bit of a fake eyelash.

HI LITTLE MIX, WE MISSED YOU

Jade - the little Geordie one who's been compared to Cheryl Cole - also looked more made-up than before, with smokey eyes and red lips. And her fellow Geordie Perrie was rocking ace hair and nicely highlighted cheekbones, making her look all polised and celebby (these are possibly not the industry terms - we're about to get a telling off from our fashion and beauty lady).

But the nicest thing was that the girls still looked like themselves, with Jesy in her trademark leopard print leggings and Leigh-Anne's headscarf still in place. Well done Simon Cowell (or minion working on his behalf) - leaving Little Mix to be Little Mix (as opposed to robo-girlband, in matching outfits) is a very good move.

Patrick Swayze's widow Lisa: I still miss him terribly

Dirty Dancing star Patrick Swayze died in September 2009 aged 57 after a 21-month battle against pancreatic cancer.

At his side was his wife of 34 years, Lisa, who had nursed him through his final months with incredible strength, courage and devotion. Lisa has published her autobiography, Worth Fighting For, which gives an intimate account of her life, marriage to Patrick and his devastating illness and death.

But here, in an exclusive extract from the book, dancer Lisa, 55, reveals how she is still struggling to cope without her soulmate, who was known to his family as Buddy...

The doctors came in to Patrick’s hospital room. “I’m afraid we’re at that point now,” they said with compassion.

I felt hot, hot tears well up into my eyes. I had to agree.....I had to agree that this was the end.

We are taught that as long as there is life, there is hope and dying is about breaking the rules. Death is the ultimate failure. and letting him go I felt like I had failed.

The only way I could possibly bear it was to keep reminding myself this was the act of love I had promised. This wasn’t about me. Within a few, very short moments, the purple ‘do not resuscitate’ band was on his wrist.

We were now not getting better. We were dying.

I asked Patrick if he wanted to go home. But he didn’t understand. I leaned over, put my arms around him, and smiled. “I love you,” I said. It was the one thing he always understood.

“I love you,” he looked into my eyes and half-mouthed, half-whispered back. It was September 2009. 21 months earlier I’d driven Patrick to the doctor because he had an upset stomach.

Patrick had tests. The scans showed a 2in by 1½ mass on his pancreas and an alarm sounded inside our heads. What? What does this mean? The doctor was hesitant but we pushed.

“We-e-l-l-l, it could be cancer,” he said.

Patrick needed an endoscopy and a biopsy on the mass. Afterwards the doctors took me into a nearby private office. “He has pancreatic cancer.”

I remember the information kind of freezing in my brain.... because it had no reality attached to it.

Patrick was recovering poorly from the procedure and was still woozy from the anaesthesia. I was trying to get my footing and figure out what the next step was. How do I tell him this news? How can he assimilate information like this when he was incredibly medicated and in pain?

I decided to wait until morning. What a dreadful night. Living with this horrible knowledge I felt as though I was the one who had crawled into a coffin and closed the lid.

I woke up on the lumpy hospital cot the next morning and a young surgeon was sitting on Patrick’s bed talking to him. Patrick was awake but looking confused.

The doctor looked at me. “He doesn’t know?” My stomach turned. “I didn’t tell him yet.”

“They found you have pancreatic cancer,” he told Patrick.

Patrick looked quickly at me, alarm rising in his eyes. I could see he was taking in this information but he was as stunned as I was. As he told me later, inside he was thinking....“I’m a dead man.”

It’s very hard to talk about the last days in Patrick’s life - because it’s so hard to describe what is....a state of grace. A time that was so horrible and so loving at the same time. A time that changed my life, forever.

After I brought him home things went very fast. He slipped into a coma. We still talked to him, sat with him. I cherished our time alone, holding his hand, listening to music, sleeping with my arm around him, my head on his shoulder.

In the quiet of Monday morning, September 14, I looked at his face and listened to the tiny sips of air he was taking in. I knew it was time.

I lay back at Buddy’s side, I held his hand. And then he didn’t breathe any more. It was ten o’clock in the morning. He’d used every last bit of that body and he needed to leave it behind.

In an hour or two, family came in to visit. Lucio, our groom, brought Roh, Patrick’s favourite brilliant, white horse, down to the house.

I had straightened up the covers around Patrick’s body and placed the most perfect white rose on his chest.

Lucio brought Roh right up to the bedroom doors, so close the horse was almost inside, standing, towering, vibrant. Lucio gave Roh the cue, and this powerful horse bowed to Patrick.

Later the family stood in the living room as his body was lifted and wheeled out to a waiting vehicle. I followed as they loaded Patrick’s body in. The door slammed shut, the car started and rolled up the drive. And that’s when it hit me. He would be gone.

I turned to bury my face in my mother’s shoulder and started to sob.

I wish I had something good, or enlightening, or even remotely encouraging to say about the process of losing someone. But I don’t. It’s like the world is twisted like a wet rag until all the colour, all the poetry in life is squeezed out of it.

On day 2, I had spilled out of bed because I heard his voice. “Lisa!” it came from inside the bathroom, and had an urgency to it....a tone I’d heard before when he needed my help.

I raced into the bathroom to see what he needed. As I was scrambling, i was aware that he was dead. But maybe...maybe....

I rounded the corner. .He was not there. For me, grief is something that happens on a cellular level. It’s not an emotion. Grief is like little worker bees streaming through your blood, buzzing and working overtime at paralysing bits of your life.

I can see why spouses sometime follow their mates into death. It’s not a choice. your body either survives the onslaught, or it doesn’t.

I found myself blaming myself. Blaming myself for taking him to the hospital, taking him out of the hospital, being the one to “give up,” for not making him well.

And if that wasn’t enough, I started to blame myself for everything I ever did wrong in our relationship. every time i was unreasonable, angry, grumpy....and after that - I blamed him.

For what, you might ask? Hey, we were married for thirty-four years, trust me, I have a list. I’d yell at him. I’d be very angry. Everyone around me tells me how well I’ve been handling this and what a strong woman I am. I smile but inside I think they’re freakin’ nuts!

I do not feel strong and courageous. I feel like a puny, snivelling, whiney mess.

As I write this it’s been one year, eight months, and one day since I lost my Buddy. I have a birthday coming up at the end of this month, and it’s funny how all the anniversaries have changed for me.

I have added the date that my Buddy died. The date of his death changed everything, because everything is now without him.

No one told me how hard it was going to be living without my husband. It’s like learning to walk again - but with only one leg now. I see now how I always felt protected by Patrick. We had our hard times, and challenges that were towering, but I felt....safe.

“I know why,” a friend offered. “You felt safe because he loved you.”

Ah....yes.

And his love was like an umbrella. It covered me, kept me from the storm, and safe in his arms. and now, I’m out in the cold, looking for a life raft anywhere, and finding none.

I have to look at the world through different eyes now. Patrick and I saw the world together for over thirty-four years. And this world looks different without him.

Part of me thinks, “I should be over this by now.” It’s almost like an embarrassment. In addition to feeling like a broken girl, I feel like a broken record.

It’s only just recently that i started talking to a grief counsellor. I got sick of hearing myself say the same stuff in my head and to the friends I share with.

Depression seems to have become a permanent fixture in my life. Like it’s stuck inside me and won’t unclog.

I’ll have some wonderful days, and then I’ll crash and it feels like nothing has changed at all. I still miss him as terribly as I ever did.

Change is hard. and this kind of loss forces you to change. But I’m keeping the faith. It’s got to get easier than this! And I’m working hard, very hard, in every way I can.

In the meantime, I’m strong enough this year to think about celebrating my birthday. I’ll just have some of my friends over, and we’ll laugh.
